To support the new series of "How Do They Do It?" Generation Digitale produces an interactive for Discovery Channel. The series allows a closer look at the achievements
of the engineers and designers who are behind some of the most seminal technical
achiemevents of our times. The game is based on a
JavaScript engine. It deals with
a range of topics as wide as the landing of an F-18 fighter on the deck of the aircraft
carrier USS Nimitz, the VW showroom in Wolfsburg or the ride of a surfer on the
Maverick wave in California. The
online-game can be maintained multilingually and
the rollout has been in ten language versions, e.g.
UK.

For our client Discovery Channel we
conceptualize, illustrate and code
content in the shape of an
online-game to accompany the TV-documentary „Oil, Sweat & Rigs“.
The dramatic rescue works on the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico which were damaged by the hurricanes Katrina and Rita serve as the background to this series.
The original game is realized in
Flash, an alternative version in
HTML/
JavaScript.
A txt-file ensures that all content can be easily maintained by the editors and that the global rollout of the game in 18 different language versions could be completed in a quick and cost-effective manner.
Dependent on the viewing time of the different parts of the series, the game will be embedded in individual country sites, eg.
UK or
Russia.
